"She’s the only one who can see through his golden boy façade to the broken god within…

Chrysander Notos, Supreme God of the South Wind and Summer, is on a mission: save Eurus from his death sentence and prove his troubled brother can be redeemed. But Eurus fights back, triggering vicious summer storms that threaten the mortal realm, dangerously drain Chrys, and earn the ire of the Olympic gods who ordered Eurus dead.

Laney Summerlyn refuses to give up her grandfather’s horse farm, despite her deteriorating vision. More than ever, she needs the organized routine of her life at Summerlyn Stables, until a ferocious storm brings an impossible—and beautiful—creature crashing down from the heavens.

Injured while fighting Eurus, Chrys finds himself at the mercy of a mortal woman whose compassion and acceptance he can’t resist. As they surrender to the passion flaring between them, immortal enemies close in, forcing Chrys to choose between his brother and the only woman who’s ever loved the real him."  ~ From Goodreads

First of all I love Laura Kaye's books and I've loved the Hearts of the Anemoi series! She's a super talented writer with a nag for writing emotion filled, entertaining romances! That said I was slightly bummed with South of Surrender, it's not that the writing were bad, it was great but I had little bit of a problem with the plot this time...

Which leaked into the characters as well. First, I loved Laney, I loved her struggles, her strength in front of her deteriorating sight, I loved her freak outs and her skepticism with gods and furies and what not dropping in at the small farm house. What I had a problem with was this, the book was way too focused on Eurus, and Chrys way too focused on catching Eurus. When he was with Laney he though of catching Eurus, when he wasn't with her he was thinking about catching the guy. That just doesn't spell great romance to me. And I didn't really like Chrys for that, though he made a lot of it up in all the tender loving moments with Laney. :)

All the stuff that I love about Laura Kaye's writing was her, and pretty much the only thing I had a problem with, personally, was too much thinking of/on/about Eurus. I liked the book, but it just didn't have the Awesomeness to me as the first two books had. So I am slightly skeptic moving into the next book, but I will read it, I have to, I love the series! :)
