REVIEW - COLLARED FOR THE NIGHT

Title: Collared for a Night
Author: Susan Arden
Genre: Erotic Paranormal
Publication Date: July 22, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Author Services

"All it takes is one mistake to be marked. One bite, she crosses a line...into forever.

Diana Hambre's body is blazing. For days this leopardess shifter has spun through a body-searing heat cycle. Alone. Her senses reel when Shawn Barclay, her boss, walks into her reserved room at the Downtown Den, a stud club for shifters. He gives Diana a choice: spend the evening with him, give into his every desire, and she'll find out what it means to quench her heat-crazed thirst—or try her luck with a stranger, one of the club bangers.

Shawn hates when his back is against the wall. One sip of Diana’s pheromone-laced scent is enough to force his alpha hand. The tables have turned and it's Diana's back he wants up against a wall, or any other surface for that matter.

As the moon rises toward midnight, Shawn and Diana come to understand the difference between sex and bonding. For a night, neither of them resist their primal instincts, blindly giving into carnal desire. Her wild nature fights being subdued and she risks spontaneously shifting without warning.

Now, bearing Shawn's bite marks, she can’t simply walk away from him; not when he has the means to teach her to harness her leopardess nature. Shawn accepts the challenge of training Diana to control her untamed cravings. Employing every method available in and out of the bedroom, he discovers he's on the verge of ensnaring himself in the process."

Warning: Erotic scenes hot enough to peel paint.

Book Trailer

I seemed to be frustrated and delighted with this book. First I was annoyed when all Diana talked, breathed and thought about was her heat, for the longest time... and the whole collared and chained into a grim concrete room was bit much - I thought collared for the night was some sort of sexy light bdsm play thing.

Then follows some seriously hot erotica, the mating heat, well not mating but close to mating bedroom antics. Then again were are in the anxious head of these two - to mate or not to mate that is the question... and it got old pretty quick. If it hadn't been for the hot sex, I would have abandoned ship.

I liked Shawn, he was hot, capable and sexy - he wanted to hold on to his bachelor ways, but Diana proved too much a temptation with her alluring scent, her untrained alpha female allure and her heat. Shawn did change his mind though, wanting to keep Diana, when she was still questioning loosing her freedom.

Diana I didn't like, she came off whiny and unsure, lacking self esteem and then trying to fake it when she didn't yet quite feel it. She was just hard for me to like. Though she was a great match to Shawn chemistry wise, with all the will I, won't I, the sex was still creative and definitely hot!

Top 3 Likes : Sexy Shawn, animalistic anticipation and sex, leopard shifters!

Top 3 Dislikes : Flib-flob mood and plot, unclear emotions, whining.
